ELMDALE — Herbert A. Hauk, 57, of Rt. 4, Crawfordsville, a local farmer, died unexpectedly Saturday morning in VA Hospital at Miami, Fla. Mr. Hauk was spending the winter in Florida. Mr. Hauk lived in the Elmdale community since 1944. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Byron Cox Post 72 American Legion and a 1936 graduate of Wingate High School. Born Aug. 23, 1918, at Wingate, he was a son of Emmett Irl and Cecil Hayes Hauck. He was married to Audry Shouse on June 30, 1944. She survives. Also surviving are a son John Charles of Rt. 4, Crawfordsville; three daughters, Mrs. Julie Morris of Kokomo, Mrs. Betty Jo Townsend of Wingate and Mrs. Patricia Stultz of Indianapolis; three sisters, Mrs. Lucretia Himes and Mrs. Viola Wolf of Rt. 6, Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Hazel Upham of Tacoma, Wash.; and six grandchildren. An infant daughter and his parents are deceased. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Jack Swank officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, north of Elmdale. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.--waw
